Martha L. Hiller, 72, formerly of Murphysboro, passed away at 12:45 p.m. Wednesday July 13, 2016, at the V.A. Medical Center in Durham, NC. Martha was born on June 10, 1944, in Rockford, Illinois, to Willis E. Hass and Cora (Tillet) Hass. She was a retired seamstress at the former Calcrest Factory in Murphysboro. Martha served in the U.S. Army during peacetime. She married James Hiller on July 4, 1984, in Waverly, TN, and he preceded her in death on July 31, 2010. Survivors include four children Kathy Wilhelm of NC, Dana Smith of IL, Michael Orr of AZ, and James Orr of TX; ten grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren; one sister Doris McLendon of IL; and her three legged dog and companion, George, who was the love of her life. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, July 21, 2016, at Pettett Funeral Home with Rev. Charles Allen officiating and burial at Lipe Cemetery, Makanda, with military services will be conducted by the American Legion Paul Stout Post # 127.
