Larry Eugene Keown, 72, of Murphysboro, passed away at 9:25 a.m. Saturday, August 20, 2016, at Memorial Hospital of Carbondale. Larry was born on January 2, 1944, in Carbondale, Illinois, to Eugene Keown and Lela Mae (Plough) Keown Neely. He had retired and had worked as a factory worker. He loved to fish and be outdoors. Larry married Judy Butterfield on June 28, 1969, in Murphysboro, and she preceded him in death on June 5, 1999. He is survived by one daughter Angela Peterman of Murphysboro; four grandchildren Morgan Peterman, Aaron Peterman, Victoria Summers and Alex Summers; his mother Lela Mae Neely of Green Bay, Wis.; two sisters Sally Tripp and her husband Carl Tripp of Murphysboro and Nancy Vincent of Green Bay, Wis. and one brother Donnie Keown of Royalton. He was preceded in death by his father Eugene Keown and his step father Cecil Neely. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, August 23, 2016, at Pettett Funeral Home with Rev. Charles Allen officiating and burial will be at the Cobden Cemetery. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
