Josh Penrod, 51, of Murphysboro, passed away Friday afternoon, June 10, 2016, as a result of a fire at his home in Murphysboro. Josh was born on August 22, 1964, in East St. Louis, Illinois, to Albert Ray Penrod and Helen (Pender) Penrod Royer. Mr. Penrod was a member of Elm Street Baptist Church in Murphysboro. Josh was a very avid pool player. He loved watching the Cardinals play baseball and going fishing, and he enjoyed music. He is survived by his mother and step father Helen and Don Royer of Murphysboro; five sisters Connie Falkenburry, and Monica DeRossett and her husband John DeRossett, all of Murphysboro, Valerie Howard and her husband Jack Howard of Homeland, FL, Gwen Basden and her husband Brett Basden, and Demetra Stanley and her husband Greg Stanley, all of Murphysboro; one brother Jason Royer and his wife Shelley Royer of Murphysboro and one step brother Ronnie Royer and his wife Sherrie Royer of Belleville; numerous nieces and nephews; one cousin John Penrod of Swansea, IL; and three step children Kris, Katherine and Kendra Craig. He was preceded in death by his father and one step brother Kenny Royer. His body will be cremated and a gravesite service will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, June 14, 2016, at Pleasant Grove Memorial Park with Rev. Charles Allen officiating. Family and friends can meet at the gravesite from 9:30 to 10 a.m. Tuesday.
