David O. Rains, 70, of Murphysboro, passed away at 1:50 p.m. Thursday, June 23, 2016, at Manor Court of Murphysboro. David was born on May 7, 1946, in Murphysboro, Illinois, to Millard Rains and Ella Mae (Maynor) Rains Talley. He was a river barge worker. Mr. Rains had served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam Conflict. David is survived by three sisters and one brother Mary Jones of Carbondale, John Rains of St. Peters, Missouri, Edna Estes of Murphysboro, and Jeannie Smith of Foley, Missouri; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by four brothers, one sister and his parents. His body will be cremated. There will be no services. Pettett Funeral Home is charge of the arrangements.
