Leora Davis Hailey, Idaho Obituary

Leora Davis

On April 18, 2016, at the age of 86, Leora Marie Davis passed away peacefully in Bellevue, Idaho. She was born in Marysville, Wash., on Christmas Day, 1929, to Orson and Amelia Worthington. Leora had a sister, Jeanette, and a brother, Cecil, at the time. Her father, Orson, was born on Silver Creek near Bellevue, Idaho, and so moved the family back home to Idaho, where they homesteaded land south of Bellevue and began farming. There they had Leora's sister Deloris and brother Buster. Leora preferred working in the fields with her father, plowing with teams of horses and irrigating. She and her siblings would ride the old horse to school every day. She graduated from Bellevue High School with seven other classmates and soon married Leroy Davis from Eden, Idaho. They had a son, Richard Davis, and nine years later a daughter, Launna. The family ran a gas station and hotel on Main Street in Hailey Idaho for many years. After 21 years of marriage, they were divorced and Leora took a job at the drycleaners in Hailey and raised her daughter, Launna. She eventually began working at Ketchum Korner, a clothing store in Ketchum. Leora worked for many years at the store and eventually retired and moved to Summit Apartments in Hailey. At the Summit she kept the building clean, decorated for holidays, organized parties and answered emergency calls. She lived there for more than 28 years. Leora was a loving friend, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She loved to camp by the Salmon River and go river rafting with Launna. She adored watching the deer and elk and listening to the river running. She was at home in nature and the mountains. Leora is survived by her son, Rick Davis, and daughter, Launna Gunderson; grandsons, Jay Davis and Scott Davis, and granddaughters, Amelia Glenn and Aundrea Rasmussen; and great-grandson Ryker Glenn and great-granddaughters, Katrina Davis, Jessie Rasmussen and Carrie Rasmussen. She was preceded in death by her parents, Orson and Amelia Worthington; and sisters, Jeanette Davis and Deloris Pain, and brothers, Bernard (Buster) Worthington and Cecil Rominger. There will be a celebration of her life on June 25, time and place to be determined. Arrangements are under the direction of Wood River Chapel.
