Nolan Haygood, 76, of Dawsonville passed away Thursday October 6, 2016 at his residence following a period of declining health. Mr. Haygood was born November 18, 1939 to the late Ralph and Ruby Haygood. Previously of Cobb County and Roswell he had been a resident of Dawson County since 1978. He was a member of Juno Baptist Church and worked most of his life as a carpenter and farmer. A devoted and loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather, he received great enjoyment from his birds, flowers, wood-working and watching westerns. He was also preceded in death by a sister, Annie Mae Haygood, and brothers, James Haygood, Laverne Haygood. Surviving are his wife of 57 years, Carolyn L. Haygood, Dawsonville; children, Shane and Diane Haygood, Dawsonville, Rachelle and Tom Thurmond, Dawsonville; grandchildren, Clint and Tabitha Goode, Briana and Zack Blair, Tyler and Courtney Thurmond, Chad and Jamie Hogan, Chris and Amy Green; great grandchildren, Dylan Green, Brayden Green, Cadence Goode, Jasie Hogan; sister and brother in law, Catherine and Rupert Cartwright, Dawsonville; brothers and sister in law, Donald and Anne Haygood, Clio, AL, Charles Haygood, Dawsonville; a number of other relatives and dear friends. Funeral services will be held Saturday October 8, 2016 at 11 AM at Juno Baptist Church. Rev. Brody Hughes and Rev. Dennis Bottoms will officiate.
