Elmer Delton Jackson, Jr., age 71 of Sautee Nacoochee, passed away Wednesday, June 8, 2016 at his residence. Born in Jackson, Mississippi on June 9, 1944, he was the son of the late Elmer Delton Sr., and Marjorie Williams Jackson. Mr. Jackson was the owner of Dukes Creek Ruby and Gold Mines, Outpost Gold and Gem Panning, and Heidi Motel. He enjoyed traveling and was one of the last gold and gem prospectors in North Georgia. Surviving are his sons, Elmer Delton Jackson, III, of York, England, Forrest Jackson of Seattle, Washington, Clayton Jackson of Savannah, Georgia, and Chad Jackson of Helen, Georgia; daughter, Georgia Jackson of Florida; 15 grandchildren. Mr. Jackson’s wishes were to be cremated and no formal service is planned at this time. Those wishing to express their condolences may do so by sending them to heidimotel@windstream.net.
