Roger Lee McDaniel, 34, of Hastings, passed away Sunday, July 3, 2016 from injuries received in an automobile accident on Hwy 17 north. Born in Palatka and raised in Bostwick, Roger was a 2000 graduate of Palatka High School. He was working as a diesel mechanic with U.S. Express in Jacksonville. He had previously worked with T.A. in St. Augustine. Roger enjoyed hunting and fishing and especially time spent working with his Dad in his shop. He was a FSU fan and was a member of Midway Baptist Church in Bardin. Roger is survived by his fiancé, Jessica Thiem of Hastings, 2 sons, Caleb McDaniel and Kason McDaniel, a daughter, Jaleigh McDaniel, all of Palatka, his mother and step-father, Penny Main (Michael) of Taylors, SC, his father and step-mother, Troy Keith McDaniel, Sr. (Laura) of Palatka, a brother, Troy Keith McDaniel, Jr. (Tonya) of Bostwick, a step-brother, Nathan Ryan (Shannon) of Bostwick, a step-sister, Johanna Ryan of Orange Park, step-grandmother, Johanna Wilkinson of Bostwick, 4 uncles, Terry McDaniel (Alicia) , Gene McDaniel, Garry McDaniel (Terry) and Sandy McDaniel, all of Bostwick, 2 aunts, Rose Strickland (Richard) of Palatka and Judy Tomlinson (Wayne) of Anderson, SC, his fiance’s mother, Michelle Martin (Steve) of Green Cove Springs and numerous nieces and nephews. Services will be at 11:00 A.M. Thursday, July 7, 2016 at Johnson-Overturf Chapel in Palatka with Pastor John Cameron officiating. Burial will follow in Bostwick Cemetery. No visitation has been scheduled.
