Mary O. Jones, 84, of Palatka, passed away on Monday, September 12, 2016 at Palatka Health Care Center following an extended illness. She was a native of Hastings and lifelong resident of East Palatka. Mary served in the US Army during WWII and was a member of VFW Post #3349. A homemaker, Mary was a member of First Baptist Church of Hastings and enjoyed dancing, walking, playing trivia (Jeopardy), the beach and traveling She is preceded in death by her husband, William Coleman Jones, Jr., and son, William Coleman Jones, III, brothers, Dykes Odom, Robert “Shorty” Odom, Ray Odom and Hubert Odom, sisters, Jimmie Clayton and Letha Espey. She is survived by her children, Rosemary Jones (Michael) of Petaluma, CA, Ronald Jones (Judie) of Palatka, Russell Jones (Doris) of Manassas, VA, Patrick Jones of East Palatka, Michael Dean “Bo” Jones of East Palatka, Leslie Jones Currie of East Palatka and David Jones (Laura) of Mesa, AZ, a sister, Alta Bass of Palatka, sister-in-law, Lillie Odom of Hastings, 4 grandchildren, Barbera Jones, Michael Jones, Jr., Amanda Keith (Michael) and Jennifer Glenn and 3 great-grandchildren, Aurora Lilly Jones, Tristan Keith, Landon Keith and numerous nieces and nephews. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday, September 15, 2016 at Palatka Memorial Gardens with Chaplain Ricky Bybee officiating. The family will receive friends from 5:00 pm – 7:00 pm on Wednesday, September 14, 2016 at Johnson-Overturf Chapel in Palatka.
