Lavonia M. Zeigler, 87, of Palatka, passed from this life on Monday, August 22, 2016 following an extended illness. A native of Perry, Florida, she resided in Putnam County since 1941 coming from Bunnell. Lavonia was a homemaker and a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Palatka. In her leisure time, Lavonia enjoyed gardening, fishing and spending time with her family, especially her grandkids. She was preceded in death by husband, Richard Edward Zeigler, her parents, Isaac Barrs and Beulah Davis Barrs, 2 grandsons, Clarence E. “Edward” Zeigler, II and Richard Edward “Ricky” Zeigler, III , 2 brothers, Sammy Barrs and Johnice Barrs and 2 sisters, Eleanor Rake and Jean Hitchcock. Lavonia is survived by 3 sons, Clarence Zeigler (Brenda) of Palatka, David Zeigler (Becky) of Salt Springs, Rex Zeigler (Marsha) of Satsuma, a daughter, Linda Parnell of Palatka, a brother, Conrad Barrs (Connie) of Palatka and numerous grand and great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her special friends, Val and Paul Johns and Lenwood and Judy Morrell, all of Palatka. Services will be at 10:00 A.M. Thursday, August 25, 2016 at Johnson-Overturf Chapel in Palatka with Pastor Mike Stanley officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery.
