Joseph Marion “Joe” Sheldon, Jr, .65, of Crescent City, passed away Thursday, October 6, 2016 at his home following a brief illness. A native of Winter Park, Joe resided in Putnam County for the past 11 years coming from Fort Myers. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War. Joe co-owned and operated Elite Interior Builders in Fort Myers. He was a member of the American Legion and VFW Post #2380 in Deland and Moose Lodge #2538 in Deltona. In his leisure time, Joe enjoyed fishing, boating and anytime he could spend time on the water. He was preceded in death by a son, David Sheldon. Joe is survived by his wife of 28 years, Geraldine “Jeri” Sheldon of Crescent City, a daughter, Angela Ellis and husband Jason of Cartersville, GA, a brother, Joyce Hunter of Jacksonville and Bob Sheldon of Fort Myers, a granddaughter, Kristin Ellis and a great-grandchild Elliott Ellis. Memorial services will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be sent to Haven Hospice Roberts Care Center, 6400 St. Johns Ave., Palatka, FL 32177 or to Cancer Research.
