Helen Holloway

Helen Wilder Holloway, 87, of Palatka, passed from this life on Tuesday, August 9, 2016 at Putnam Community Medical Center following an extended illness. Helen grew up in Panama City, Florida and moved to Chattahoochee, Florida where she met and married the love of her life, Lee Dell Holloway. They moved to Palatka in 1955. Helen was a life-time educator in the Putnam County School System and also taught at the Briarwood School years ago. She was an amazing mother and educator who was so proud of her family. She has left a legacy of deep love and nurturing to her family. Helen was a member of the First Assembly of God. She was preceded in death by her husband Lee Dell Holloway, a son, Tommy Holloway and a daughter, Kathy Stockton. Helen is survived by 3 daughters, Karon Payne (Charlie) of Palatka, Jana Masters (Chris) of Elkton and Penny Surrency (Rick) of Palatka, 2 sisters, Merle Silcox (Ernie) of Palatka and Frances Tilton (Woody) of East Palatka, 9 grandchildren, Gary Galloway (Suzanne), Ashley McCool (Robert), Travis Holloway (Kristina), Landon Stockton (Kayla), Trevlyn Sheffield (Jason), Kim Hood (Matt), Jim Anderson (Summer), Trevor Scott (Stephanie) and Kaylee Anderson, 20 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Services celebrating Helen’s life will be at 3:00 P.M. Saturday, August 13, 2016 at Johnson-Overturf Chapel in Palatka with Pastor Ben Tippett officiating. Burial will follow at Palatka Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends Saturday from 2:00 P.M. until the time of services at 3:00.
