March 10, 1926 – June 24, 2013

Ruta Erica t’Kint de Roodenbeke passed away peacefully in Palm Coast Florida surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Riga Latvia on March 10 1926 to the late Edgars and Elsa Baize Rempe and was the last of her immediate family.
Ruta spent her childhood and adolescent years in Latvia attending the Lycee Francais in Riga. Twice she and her family fled the country prior to foreign occupations the last time to Germany where they spent the war years as displaced persons. As a teenager Ruta was imprisoned for impulsively denouncing Hitler and was forever grateful to the American soldiers who liberated the prison. During this time she also lost her beloved brother Torvald who was conscripted into the German army and died at the Russian front.
After the war she met and married Noel “a handsome Frenchman” who predeceased her in 2006. Together they set out on a vagabond life that took them to three continents various enterprises difficult times and good but always with a sense of adventure and fun and a deep commitment to their family. From Europe and then Morocco they emigrated to Canada and finally to the United States where Ruta and Noel became proud American citizens in 1986.
Ruta has left a wonderful legacy to her family. She had beauty and elegance of person serenity and gentleness of spirit concealing a resolve of steel quiet humor and above all a very deep love for her family whose happiness and well-being always came first in her life. She delighted in her grandchildren and their families and they in her and she was their beloved Grammy Grandma and Grand-mere. In spite of the tragedies of her life Ruta saw only the goodness in people and in the world around her and she spent her life creating beauty especially in the little touches that meant so much to all her family. To see the world through her eyes of love is the gift and great blessing she has bequeathed to us.
On the occasion of their 50th wedding anniversary Ruta said to Noel “Look what we started!” and indeed she is survived by her beloved daughters Mara Ambrose (George) Ingrid McClellan (Robert) and Miriam Clifton (Ron) her cherished grandchildren Jennifer Amsley (Gary) Peter Ambrose (Sondra) Michele Macklefresh-Franks (Tim) Noelle Ramsey (Steve) Destinee Robinson and Raymond Nicoll II (Christyn) her great-grandchildren Rita Xiamara Chloe Preston Shianne Peter Jr. Laura (Robert) Jeremy Emily Abigail Austin Kolby Hunter Alyssa and Raylee – and her great-great-grandson Holden. She also leaves step grand and great-grandchildren Robert (Ellen) and Jordan and Jackson Brendan Joscelyn Tom Thomas Jordan Dominick Haylee and Heather; godson Sven Walker Robert Walker Dr. Eric Walker Igor Filips and other extended family.
