Willis Simmons

Willis Lamar Simmons, 58, of Pace, Florida, passed away Saturday, October 15, 2016. Lamar was born July 8, 1958, to Andrew and Marie (Lowrey) Simmons. Mr. Simmons graduated from Pace High School in 1976, and entered the United States Army. Stationed in Germany, he proudly served his country for three years. Mr. Simmons settled in Pace, where he worked the heavy equipment as part of his father’s business, Simmons Construction Co. He was a member of Pace Assembly of God Church, where, in his youth, he loved going on Royal Rangers campouts with the late Pastor Bo Lowery. Everyone who knew Mr. Simmons knew he was a diehard Green Bay Packers fan. He never missed watching his beloved Packers on TV. Friends also remember Mr. Simmons as a jokester, who was always quick with a smile but would give you the shirt off his back if you needed it. He always had a guitar at hand, and would entertain friends and family with his playing. He was preceded in death by his father, Andrew Willis Simmons. He is survived by his mother, Marie Simmons; brother, Glen (Cathy) Simmons; sister, Elaine (Rodney) Brandt; nieces, Jessica (Danny) Lapen and their children, Kinu and Micah, and Natalie (Sheldon) Cipriani and their children Gabriel, Malachi, and Athena; nephews, John (Leslie) Brandt and their children Gavin, Heaven, and Annabelle; and Brian (Autumn) Simmons; and aunts, uncles, cousins and lifelong friends Patti Sumrall Johnson, Laura Cranford, and Mark Matthews. Visitation will be held 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m., Monday, October 17, 2016, at Lewis Funeral Home, Pace Chapel. Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, October 18, 2016, at Lewis Funeral Home, Pace Chapel; with Pastor Joey Rogers of Pace Assembly, along with Pastor Mike Poston, officiating.
