Preston Polhill Milton, Florida Obituary

Preston Polhill

Preston Edward Polhill, 62, of Pensacola, Florida, received his wings on Friday, July 15, 2016, at his home surrounded by his family and dearest friends. Preston fought a long and hard battle with cancer; yet all the while, he kept a smile on his face and the strength and perseverance unlike any other. Preston was given only 90 days to live on April 1, 2013; nevertheless, he went on to prove the doctors wrong time and time again and did so for the next 3 years. As he’s been known to say “they can’t stop me”. Preston was born July 24, 1953, in Nashville, Tennessee, to William and Charlotte Polhill. He graduated from Woodman High School class of 1971. He was a man of many talents and many friends. Preston was a well-known and respected licensed surveyor in Pensacola for 25+ years. He was a very talented woodsman, building anything from large furniture to the most detailed, intricate jewelry boxes. He loved a good challenge on the golf course, also referred to as “the office”. He looked forward to his weekly paycheck after a round or two with his long time buddy Robert. Preston was one of the best, if not the best pool player in this town. You won’t find many, if any, other pool players that can say they could beat him consistently. He had a true love and respect for the game of billiards. Especially, the Friday night 3-ball tournaments he attended weekly with some of his favorite buddies. With all of these talents and things he was passionate about, his real love and greatest accomplishment was being an extraordinary daddy. There was never an event, a softball game, or a father-daughter dance that he did not attend. He was what every little girl dreams for and so much more. Just when we thought this man’s heart was full, he became a Papa and once again he out did himself. Papa never missed a baseball game or a day at the beach. His love for his grandbabies is what kept him fighting so hard for so long. To say he will be missed is an understatement. He was preceded in death by his parents and many friends. Preston is survived by his daughter, Tiffany Angel, and favorite son-in-law Jason Guy; his two prized possessions his grandbabies, Payton “Little Buddy” and Presley “Rosebud”; his best friend, life love and biggest pain, Dorothy Ann; his stepson, Hank; son, Henry; sister, Susan Darrow-McPherson; niece, Jennifer Marie and husband Bobby; great-nieces, Brooke Alexis “Stinky Feet”, Kaylen Marie, Logan and Kennedy; great-nephews, Dylan Michael “Pockets, Preston Adam and Avery Christian. He is also survived by his many dear friends, Denny, Gloria, Don, Robert, John, Jack, Clyde, Billy, Randy, Nick, and Bobby, just to name a very few of his treasured bunch. A Memorial Service will be held at 5:00 p.m., Saturday July 23, 2016, at Lewis Funeral Home, Pace Chapel. Visitation will be held 3:30 p.m. – 5:00 p.m., prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, a Go Fund Me account has been established in the name of Preston Polhill. Thank you for all the love and support
