Larry Hays

Larry Robert Hays,63, of Milton, passed away Tuesday, September 20, 2016. Larry was born September 11, 1953, in Albuquerque New Mexico, to Cecil and Barbara Hays. Larry graduated from Milton High School in 1971. He was enlisted in the Navy from 1971-1977 where he served on USS Samuel Gompers and USS Sword Fish Submarine as a nuclear electrician. He worked for the State Forestry Division while he attended PSC receiving his degree in Master Draftsman. He worked over 30 years in the construction field as a draftsman and construction supervisor; and ended his career at Tom Thumb in Milton where he retired. Larry was a major Alabama fan “Roll Tide”, Nascar fan, enjoyed fishing, and spending time with his family. He is preceded in death by his father, Cecil Hays; brother, Sonny Hays; and his dog "Bratt." Larry leaves behind two children, Jason (Sunday) Hays of Milton, and Brittany (Jonathan Parker) Hays of Milton; three grandchildren, Dillian, Jason Jr and Hayden Hays; mother, Barbara Hays of Pensacola Florida; two brothers Ken (Debbie) Hays, David (Judy) Hays, and many nieces, nephews, uncles and aunts. Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, September 25, 2016, at Lewis Funeral Home, Milton Chapel. Visitation will be held 1:00 p.m. – 2:00 p.m., prior to the service. Burial will be held at 1:15 p.m., Monday, September 26, 2016, at Barrancas National Cemetery. Larry was a big supporter in his community and loved by all and will truly be missed.
