Corazon Burgess Milton, Florida Obituary

Corazon Burgess

Corazon Cabus "Cora" Burgess, 56, of Milton, passed away Sunday, July 17, 2016. Cora was born on October 9, 1959, in Escalante Negros Philippines. She one of thirteen children, and from what I was told she was the "terror of family!" She moved from her home to Dela Paz Compound just outside the city limits of Olongapo City RP, to live with her sister, Jenelyn. In February of 1981, she met a young sailor that was brought to the Dela Paz by Robert Paul “Boats” Jones. Jeff Burgess was the young sailor that came to Dela Paz with Boats to meet his girlfriend, Jenelyn Ninal. Jeff and Boats were both stationed on the USS Shasta which was heading to the Indian Ocean. The two sailors were sitting out front having a cold beverage, when a beautiful goddess came walking across in front of them, wearing a white blouse and gold pants. Jeff asked Boats, "Who is that goddess?" Jenelyn replied, "That is my sister." Almost immediately, Jeff started kidding with this beautiful lady, Corazon Ninal. After a while, Corazon said, "If you go take a shower and put on clean shorts and a shirt, you can take me to the movies." Not only was she feisty, up front and beautiful, how could a sailor say no? Our very first date was on February, Friday the 13, 1981, and history was made that day! After retiring from the Navy in 1995, Jeff and Cora moved to Milton, Florida, to be close to Boats and Jenelyn. Cora worked at Vanity Fair until it closed, and then went to work at Dana Hose Company in Pensacola, Florida. In 2005, Cora became very ill and had to stop working; after a long hard fought battle, she has gone to heaven and received her new heavenly body. Cora is survived by her husband of 35 years, Jeffrey Burgess; son, Robert Paul "Bobby" Burgess; sister, Jenelyn Jones; niece, Roselyn Jones; two granddaughters, Mia Jones and Kayla Jones, all of Milton. Cora also leaves behind to cherish her memory two sisters, one brother, and many nieces and nephews in the Philippines. God Bless you Love. “LIFE IS SHORT, LOVE IS FOREVER” Visitation will be held Wednesday, July 20, 2016, at Lewis Funeral Home, Milton Chapel. Visitation will be held 5:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m., Rosary at 6:30 p.m., and Funeral Services will be held at 7:00 p.m. with Rev. Mike Poston officiating. A Graveside Service will be held at 12:30 p.m., Thursday, July 21, 2016, in Barrancas National Cemetery onboard Pensacola Naval Air Station, with Chaplain Ken Griffith officiating.
