Burma Bowdoin Obituary

Burma Bedsole Bowdoin, 91, of Navarre, Florida, left us on October 6, 2016 at 3:00 p.m., to join her family in Heaven. Granny was born on July 4, 1925, in Coffee County, Alabama, to Ibeona Weeks and James M. Bedsole. Granny was an avid fisherwoman and loved fishing. She had many jobs in her 91 years, but she retired from Monsanto in Pensacola, Florida, after 25 years of service. She then moved to Geneva County, Alabama, where she retired with her husband Jasper Bowdoin and spent many years enjoying her fishing and grandchildren. She was a very religious woman and we always had her pray for us because we believe she had a direct line to God himself. She left this world with her grandchildren surrounding her and it was very peaceful. She is preceded in death by her parents, James M. Bedsole and Ibeona Weeks; her husband, Jasper “Buck” Bowdoin; her son, Donnie Grant Lewis; one brother, Curt Bedsole; her sisters, Connie Marsh, Elizabeth Lewis, Demaris Johnson, Jeanette Reeves, and Annette Simmons; and a daughter-in-law, Lois Ann Lewis. She is survived by one son, Truman Lewis; and two daughters, Judy (Stormy) Harvell and Alice (Joey) Braswell; grandchildren, Matt Lewis; Trudy (Bobby) Lewis-Duncan, Buddy Harvell, Angie (Mike) Burns, Wendy (Ed) Lincoln, Josie Polk-Stephens, Mattie Crain, Phyllis (Chris) Legg, Alex (Jessica) Lewis, and Stephanie Pierick-Lewis; great grandchildren, Ceceliah (Drew) Lewis, Harley Harvell, Rayne Polk, Hillery Harvell, Kayla Burns, Kendall Polk, Jason Crain, Allison Legg, Joshua Stephens, James Lewis, Evan Lewis, and Claire Lewis; and her great-great-grandchildren, Brantley Burk, Ashlynn Polk, Wade Polk, and Parker Burk. Funeral Services for Granny will be held at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, October 9, 2016, at Lewis Funeral Home, Navarre Chapel (Hwy. 98/7794 Navarre Parkway, Navarre, Florida 32566), with Pastor Doug Barber officiating. Family visitation is at noon. Visitation for friends will be held 1:00 p.m. – 2:00 p.m., prior to the services. Burial will follow services at Harper Cemetery (Highway 87, in Holley, Florida). We would like to acknowledge Emerald Coast Hospice nurse, Brenda, and her aide, Cathy Walker.
