James Williams

James Lee Williams was born February 22, 1933 in Ft. Lauderdale, FL to the late Mr. Russell Lee Williams, Sr. and Mrs. Thelma Finger Williams. He was also reared by his grandmother Alma Beard Thomas. James became a member of Greater Mt. Olive Baptist Church in Ft. Lauderdale, FL at a very early age and he was active in BTU under the late Pastor Weaver. He attended Dillard as a secondary school for elementary and middle education. Later he graduated from Blanche Ely High School in Pompano Beach, FL in 1950. He became active helping his father move trailer homes for Coleman’s Moving Company and the Rockerfellers of Greater Ft. Lauderdale. He also worked as a Funeral Service Aide for Boyd Funeral Home under the late Mr. James C. Boyd. He served as a Maintenance worker for Mr. Hankerson’s Grocery Store on “Skit Row” 5th Street. James was also, a Masonry Construction worker with his late brother Samuel Lee Williams for home repair services to those in the community. He was married in Holy Matrimony to Mrs. Lula Mae Williams. Those who preceded him in death: his only son, Ray Kuma; grandmother: Alma Beard Thomas; siblings: Drucilla Auzey Gainey Hines, Samuel Lee Williams, Hannah Lee Williams Walker (RC), Thelma Williams (Sugar Mama), Frank Lee Williams and Taylor Lee Williams. He leaves behind to cherish his loving memories, 1 brother: Russell Lee Williams, Jr.; 1 brother-in-law: George Ranson, of Ft. Lauderdale, FL; 3 sisters-in-law: Deloris Williams of Mobile, AL, Lois Williams of Lauderdale Lakes, FL, Betty Jackson of Detroit, MI; his favorite nieces: Sharonda J. Berry (Ronald) and Glynes Thomas (James); cousin: Frank Pompey, of Tallahassee, FL; a good friend in deed: Mr. March Crommell of Tallahassee, FL; a host of nephews, nieces, great-nephews, great-nieces, cousins, relatives and friends
