Morris Powell

Skip Powell, 76, of Satellite Beach, Florida passed away Sunday, May 22, 2016. He was born on September 7, 1939 in Union City, Michigan. He was the beloved husband of Gertrude “Trudy” Boyce of Holden, Massachusetts, the proud father of Michal Waterman and her husband David of Gilmanton Iron Works, NH, Melinda Aldridge and her husband Andrew of Satellite Beach, FL and Melissa Gifford and her boyfriend Steve Inman of Vancouver, WA, the cherished grandfather of Sarah McCoy, Kyle Lane, Patrick Lane, Ryan Claiborn, Lindsay Waterman, Justin Claiborn, Emily Aldridge, Kaleb Gifford and Mason Inman and great-grandfather to Charlotte and Claire McCoy and Theodore Claiborn. He is survived by his brother William Powell of Tekonsha, Michigan, sister Sara Charles of Elkhart, Indiana and sister Lois Stochel of El Jobean, Florida. Skip was a proud 26-year veteran of the United States Air Force, where he received many commendations for meritorious service to his country. He spent many years in Vehicle Operations Management, retiring from Patrick AFB as Command and Control Superintendent. The next phase of his work life was as a “Big Bus Driver” with the Government Service Agency at Kennedy Space Center. He retired from GSA in 1995. Arrangements are being handled by Beach Funeral Home in Indian Harbour Beach, FL. Calling hours will be Thursday, May 26th from 6pm-8pm. A celebration of Skip’s life will be Friday, May 27th at the Oceanside Community Church on Cassia Blvd., Satellite Beach at 10am. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Gary Sinise Foundation, PO Box 50008, Studio City, CA 91614-5001.
