Joan Nichols Obituary

Joan Emma Clementson, of Palm Bay Florida, died October 2, 2016, at 1743 PM. Joan was born on November 2, 1934, in Washington DC to the late Charles Edward Clementson and Lucille May Collins. Joan grew up in Georgetown with three loving sisters, Helen Hicks, Virginia “Ginny” Brown, Lois Stanton and a protective, caring brother, Charles Clementson. In 1951 Joan met a handsome young sailor, Kenneth Earl Nichols at a Halloween dance. They were smitten and soon married. The following year came a bouncing baby boy, Richard Earl Nichols. They traveled with the Navy to Italy where they added another little guy, Glenn Allen Nichols. Once they returned to the States and settled into civilian life came the sweet, quite little angel, Susan Jean Nichols. Six years later the Lord decided to round out their little family with another little one, and Linda Jo Nichols joined the family. Soon after Linda was born tragedy struck and Ken suffered a debilitating illness. After 11 years Ken went home to be with the Lord. Joan and Ken celebrated 28 years together before Ken left to prepare their heavenly home. The family was always the most important part of Joan’s life. She loved the sound of laughter and would sit for hours as her children and grandchildren would perform fashion shows or sing and dance for her. She loved big family get togethers; she thought any problem could be solved with a full belly and a hug. If there was not a problem to be solved, you still could not go wrong with a full belly and a smile. From Cream Chipped Beef to Chicken enchiladas her recipes cannot be replicated. It must have been the love she added. Joan was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and loved the Lord and Jesus Christ. Lovingly known as “GG” for (great grandma).GG loved her children and grandbabies. She is survived by four children, Richard Earl Nichols, Glenn Allen Nichols, Susan Jean Gardner, and Linda Jo Whittaker. Sister and friend Lois Stanton, fifteen grandchildren; Jamin Nichols, Shana Shanks, Teren Nichols, Kaila Ebner, Eric Nichols, Elizabeth Nichols, Rebecca Nichols, Emily Nichols, Sarah Nichols, Rhiannon Pearsall, Shane McCleaf, Kristina Adam, Jacqueline Whittaker, Valerie Darnall & Katelynn Thompson. She matched the grandchildren with Fifteen Great Grandchildren; Deva Shanks, Maila Shanks, Kerin Shanks, Layla Ebner, Trinity Ebner, Landon Ebner, Easton Ebner, Olivia Busch, Kai Brodus, Bryson Pearsall, Amari Pearsall, DJ Davis, Gavyn Darnall, Zachary Martin, & Harley Darnall. Services will be at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints 1145 Creel St. Melbourne 32935 on Monday, October 10, 2016. Beginning with a viewing at 3:30pm . Interment will be Tuesday, October 18, 2016, at Cheltenham Veterans Cemetery in Cheltenham Maryland. Time to be announced.
