Hernando Dewitt “Penny” Kent passed away Thursday, July 28, 2016 at his home in Hosford at the age of sixty. Penny was born in Quincy, February 11, 1956, to Hernando Cortez Kent and Shirley (Sumner) Brown. He was a logger for several years and also managed Penny’s Produce in Hosford. He was a man of the woods who liked hunting and fishing. Penny was preceded in death by his step-father, Laryus Brown. Survivors include his wife, Robin (Parker) Kent of Hosford; son, Ivey Kent and his wife, Pam Sumner of Telogia; daughter, Monica Welles and her husband, Noah of Bristol; his father, Hernando Cortez Kent and step-mother, Ailene Kent of Blountstown; his mother, Shirley (Sumner) Brown of Hosford; three grandchildren, Jacob, Gabe, and Callie; an honorary daughter, Erin O’Neal and honorary granddaughter, Megan Kirkpatrick; two brothers, Randall Wayne Kent and his wife, Carol of Blountstown and Laryus “Boy” Brown of Hosford; and a sister, Linda Gail Everett of Hosford. A graveside service will be Saturday, July 30, 10:00 a.m. ET in Chason Cemetery with Reverend Aaron Elkins and Reverend Charlie Fowler officiating. The family will visit with friends at the cemetery after the service. Adams Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
