Rhonda Ayers-Sanders

Rhonda was born in Wilmington, Delaware on February 12, 1958 and transitioned to glory on Wednesday, June 22,2016. Rhonda was the daughter of Albert C. Matthews, Sr. and the late Wanda Ayers-Cannon. Rhonda received her early education from St. Mary's School and she was the 1976 graduate of St. Marks High School where she was a proud spartan. Rhonda was employed by the DuPont Company from 1976 until 1993. After her career with DuPont, Rhonda worked various fields before going into medical field. She graduated from Dawn Institute as a Certified Nursing Assistant, a position she held til her illness. Rhonda was an active member for many years at the Mt. Zion AUMP Church. She later joined the Mother AUFCMP where remained until her passing. If there was a Sunday that the Lord gave Rhonda enough strength to get up and get dressed, she would attend Sunday morning service. Rhonda loved the Lord and her Church family. Rhonda will be remembered for her intelligence, kindness and dedication to her family, her church, her friends and community. Her beautiful smile would light up a room. Rhonda leaves to cherish her memories, the love of her life, Steven Dixon; father, Albert C. Matthews, Sr.(Celestine); sister, Terri Ayers-Bonner; seven brothers, Andre Matthews(Arnetta), Anthony Matthews(Joy), Albert C. Matthews, Jr., Rev. Carlos M. Matthews, Sr.(Deborah), Darin N. Matthews, Sr.(Gwen), Rahsaan Matthews,Sr.(Tiffany) and Thaddeus Cannon(Roxanne); twenty-one nieces and nephews ; twenty-two great nieces and nephews; one great great niece; four godchildren; two devoted cousins , Angie Hairston and Arthur Rollins; and a host of other family and friends. She shared a special bond with her nephew Jarreau Ayers. She is preceded in death by her mother Wanda Ayers-Cannon and her sister Canda aka Connie Ayers-Wilson
