Robert Joseph Clements, Jr., 75, of Ellington, passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, September 4, 2016. Born December 28, 1940 in Bayonne, NJ to Helen (Roof) and Robert Clements, Sr., Bob grew up in Lexington, MA, graduating from Lexington High School in 1958. He served in the US Air Force from 1958-1962, and was stationed at Karamursel AF Base in Turkey as a Russian interpreter. Bob married Mary Strohm in 1974, living in Burlington, MA before moving to Ellington in 1980. He worked in the insurance industry for many years before establishing R.J. Clements & Associates Financial Planning. More recently he taught Continuing Education and licensing courses for the CT Insurance Department. Bob served on the Ellington Board of Finance since 1992, acting as Chairman for more than 15 years. He was a dedicated member of the Exchange Club of Rockville and the Ellington Republican Town Committee. He and his wife Mary are members of St. Bernards parish in Rockville. In 2003, Bob fulfilled a lifelong goal of completing his Bachelor’s degree when he graduated from Charter Oak State College. He was a friend of Bill W. for 28 years. Bob was very passionate about his hobbies, which included golf, woodworking, politics, and watching the NE Patriots. Bob is survived by his wife, Mary, of 42 years, his daughter Julie Schineller and her husband Ben of Revere, MA. He also leaves behind his brother, Jim Clements and his wife Paula of Lebanon, CT, his sister Roberta Cxypoliski and her husband Tom of West Hyannisport, MA, and his sister Charlene Clements of Dallas, TX; as well as many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sister Peggy Beam. His family will receive friends on Thursday, September 8, 2016 between 5pm-7pm at Burke-Fortin Funeral Home, 76 Prospect St., Rockville. A Mass of Christian burial will take place at St. Bernards Church in Rockville at 10am on Friday, September 9, 2016; followed by a procession to St. Bernards Cemetery.
