Martin Lane

Martin B. Lane, 78, of South Windsor, CT, beloved husband of Jacqueline (Mulhall) Lane, passed away on Friday, June 24, 2016. He was born July 12, 1937 in Helena, Montana, son of Stanley and Charlotte (Schneider) Lane. Marty was a proud Eagle Scout and graduated from Cathedral High School, East Helena, MT in 1955. He then earned his undergraduate degree from Carroll College in Helena, MT in 1964. He was an excellent baseball player and earned a spot on the Minor League East Helena Smelterites. Marty was quickly nick-named the “Ramblin Rhino” for his special style of play. He then honorably served in the US Army. Upon his return from serving his country, Marty worked for the Montana Fish and Game in Lolo and Wisdom, MT. After time in Miles City, MT, he then traveled east and graduated from Boston College where he met his wife Jacqueline and graduated with a Masters Degree in Social Services. He worked many years as a social worker for the State of CT. He was an avid fisherman enjoying many of Montana’s trout streams, many of the New England fresh water fishing holes, and many trips to Lake Ontario with friends and family. Marty cherished time with his family and traveling to Florida for major league baseball spring training. He was a lifelong sports fan with a passion for the Detroit Tigers and the Oakland Raiders. He was a lifetime member of the Elks Club and the British American Club in Manchester, CT. Besides his wife Jacqueline, he is survived by his children Michael Lane, Scott Lane and his wife Cristina, and Kevin Lane and his wife Cynthia. He also leaves his grandchildren Garrett, Marcus, Matthew, Rebecca, Ethan, Dylan, and Sofia, his brother Charles Lane and his wife Jan, his sister Lori McKenzie and her husband Cliff, and many nieces and nephews.
