Dorothy N. (Niziolek) Shushok, 88, of Vernon, passed away on September 28, 2016 after a brief illness. She was born on September 23, 1927 in Windsor Locks, the daughter of the late John and Catherine (Koziel) Niziolek. She grew up in Windsor Locks and later married and moved to Vernon. She was employed by the State of Connecticut. Dorothy was predeceased by her husband Mitchell Shushok and her sister Eleanor Pienick. She is survived by her sister Mary Jane Niziolek of Windsor Locks, her close friends Mary Walker and Chris Walker of Vernon and several cousins. Dorothy was known for her love of cooking and recipe collection. She had a wonderful laugh and a smile which lit up her face. The family would like to thank home health aides; Arlena Hunley and Denise Waugh for the care and assistance they provided to Dorothy. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, October 5th, 2016 at 10:00 am at St. Luke's Church, 141 Maple Street, Ellington. Burial will follow at St. Bernard’s Cemetery in Rockville.
