OXFORD – Richard G. Seeley, Sr., age 83, formerly of Watertown, passed away peacefully into eternal rest on Wednesday, July 20, 2016 surrounded by his family at Beacon Brook Health Care Center in Naugatuck after a long battle with Parkinson’s. He was predeceased by his loving wife, Lorraine G. (Deluca) Seeley. Richard was born May 9, 1933 in Waterbury, a son of the late Theodore and Twila (Ireland) Seeley. He grew up in the Waterville section of Waterbury where he graduated from Sprague Grammar School and Leavenworth High School. After high school, Richard worked as a Mechanic at American Brass in Waterbury after which he served 8 years in the US Army, stationed in Fort Benning, GA. He and his wife were married on October 2, 1955 and settled in Watertown and later moved to Oxford. Richard was an Electrician for Timex in Middlebury for many years and enjoyed his time as an Auxiliary Police Officer for the Waterbury P.D. He became president of the Naugatuck Valley CB Radio Club 1969-1970 and was a member of the Lion’s Club. Richard also enjoyed camping, fishing, spending time with his family, and watching professional car racing. Richard is survived by his daughter, Cathy Lin Lee of Oxford, a son, Robert G. Seeley of Watertown, his sisters, Twila Dews and her husband, Arthur of Watertown, and Betty Foti and her husband, Carmen of Waterbury. Additionally, he leaves behind his beloved grandchildren, many nieces, nephews and close friends. He was predeceased by his son, Richard G. Seeley Jr., 7 brothers, Tom, Jack, Ted, Robert, Bernard, Charles, Brian and his sister, Carole (Seeley) Natale, as well as a sister, who died as an infant. Services for Mr. Seeley, including burial with full military honors will be held privately and at the convenience of his family.
