Santiago Rivera-Torres

Santiago (Chago) Rivera Torres, 84, husband of the late Eneida (Agudo) Rivera, entered into eternal peace on Monday, January 26 , 2015 at Yale New Haven Hospital. Born in Aguada, Puerto Rico on November 24, 1930, he was the son of the late Federico and Herminia (Torres) Rivera. He was a retiree from Spartan Tools of Meriden. He married the late Eneida in December 1951. Santiago was a lifelong parishioner of St. Rose of Lima Church and a member of Casa Boricua of Meriden. He was a very kind and gentle soul. He leaves his loving memories to be cherished by his loving two sons; Eliezer Rivera and his wife Linda and Rodolfo Rivera and his significant other Dawn Menard, all of Meriden, two daughters; Myrna Oquendo and her husband Cruz of Vega Baja, PR and Jasmine Correa and her husband Manuel of Meriden, 15 grandchildren and many great grandchildren. He is also survived by his loving brothers; William Rivera and Nelson Rivera both of Toa Alta, PR. and Juan Rivera and Manuel Rivera of Aguada, PR. and many nieces and nephews. Besides his beloved wife of 60 years, he was predeceased by a loving sister, Luz Maria Rivera. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, January 31, 2015 at 9:30 a.m. at St. Rose of Lima Church, 35 Center St., Meriden. Everyone is asked to gather directly at the church. Burial will be at Walnut Grove Cemetery. Family and friends may call at the John J. Ferry & Sons Funeral Home, 88 East Main St., Meriden, on Friday, January 30th from 5 to 8 p.m. The family wishes to extend their gratitude to the Yale New Haven Cardiac ICU Dept. for their support during his final days.
