Roger M. Barriere, 71, husband of Valerie (Krystock) Barriere, died on Wednesday, August 10, 2016 at Masonicare after a long illness. Born in Meriden on March 27, 1945, he was the son of the late Theodore and Bertha (LaHaye) Skorupski. He was a lifelong Meriden resident and had attended local schools. He loved camping, sea fishing and playing cards. Besides his wife of fifty years, he is survived by one daughter, Michelle DePaola and her husband, James of Meriden; one son, Roger Barriere and his wife, Jackie of Frenchville, Maine; seven grandchildren, Jeremy, James Jr., Joseph and his fiancé, Esmeralda, Vanessa, Brandon, Dustin and Adian and one great-grandson, Myles. He is also survived by his sister, Charlotte Riss of Portland; a sister-in-law, Brenda Siedlitz, and her husband, Dale of Massachusetts; four brothers-in-law, Frank Krystock and his wife, Kathy of Meriden, Chip & Sylvia Armackof Meriden, Joe Armack of Texas and Michael and Debbie Armack of North Carolina and several nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a funeral service on Monday, August 15, 2016 at 10 a.m. at the John J. Ferry & Sons Funeral Home, 88 East Main Street, Meriden, CT. Burial will be in St. Laurent Cemetery. Friends and family may call at the funeral home on Sunday, August 14th from 4 to 7 pm. The Barriere family would like to extend a special thanks to the Silver Springs Care Center staff and the Masonicare Hospice Unit for the loving care given to Roger.
