Linda V. Edwards, 68, of Old Saybrook, formerly of Meriden, wife of the late Glenn O. Edwards, died on Friday, August 12, 2016 at Masonicare after a brief illness. Born in Iowa on January 31, 1948, she was the daughter of Rose (Young) Valiquette of Cheshire and the late Leo Valiquette. Linda was an Executive Secretary for Omega Flex Inc. in Middletown before her retirement in November. She was a parishioner of St. Laurent Church and a member of the Westbrook Elks Lodge 1784. Linda’s children and grandchildren were the center of her universe and she was very involved in all their activities. Her favorite pastime was making chocolate pancakes with her grandchildren. She loved spending time at the beach, baking the most decadent desserts, and dancing to live music. Linda was also known for serving her “special recipe” while entertaining family and friends. Besides her mother, she is survived by two daughters, Michelle Bednarczyk and her husband Paul of Berlin and Vickie Kirn and her husband Steven of Milford; four grandchildren, Brad and Mark Bednarcyzk and Sophie and Rebecca Kirn; one sister, Leona Wilson (Doug) , two brothers, Paul Valiquette (Linda) and Leo Valiquette (Barbara) and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a sister, Sylvia Noyes. The family wishes to extend their gratitude to the wonderful staff at Ledgecrest and Masonicare for the support in her final days. Family and friends are invited to call at the funeral home on Tuesday, August 16, 2016 from 8:30 to 10:00 a.m at John J. Ferry & Sons Funeral Home, 88 East Main Street, Meriden and at 10:30 a.m. at St. Laurent Church for a Mass of Christian Burial. Burial will be in Walnut Grove Cemetery.
