John D. Ivers, Jr. age 50, husband of Tracy Carlson Ivers passed on August 10, 2016, Meriden, Connecticut. Born in Meriden on May 19, 1966, son of the late John D. Ivers and Louise Cahill Ivers. John resided in Meriden, CT and had attended St. Joseph School, St. Paul Catholic High School, graduated from the University of Rhode Island and University of Richmond Law School. John entered the practice of law in 1992. He spent his career serving the members of his hometown of Meriden, CT, where he was born and raised. He was a parishioner of St. Joseph Church. Besides his wife, Tracy Carlson Ivers, he is survived by his three children, John, 15, Grace, 14, and Colin, 13; four brothers and five sisters, David (Christine), Neil (Abby), Stephen and Mark; Katherine Zatkowski, Ellen (Al) Pronovost, Alice Nolan, Margaret (Alan) Trudel, and Louise (David aka Murph) Messier. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews, great nieces, great nephews (too many to count!). He was predeceased by his brother, Paul J. Ivers. John was deeply devoted to his family, was a loving father and a respected member of the Meriden Community. He will be remembered for his generous spirit, always offering his sponsorship and support to various charities, to his friends and family and anyone he encountered who was in need. He served for many years on the Meriden Daffodil Planning Committee, Past President of the St. Joseph Home and School Association, Basketball Coach for St. Joseph School and Meriden Boys and Girls Club, Past Chairman of the City of Meriden Pension Board, and long time sponsor of Meriden’s Beat the Street. He quietly and humbly served his community and has been recognized for his significant contributions. Friends and relatives are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial to be held at 10 am on Wednesday, August 17, in St. Joseph Church, corner of West Main St. and Goodwill Ave., Meriden with Reverend Mark Jette and Reverend Gerald Dziedzic concelebrating. Burial will follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Broad St., Meriden. Friends may call at St. Joseph Church on Tuesday, August 16 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory may be made to St. Joseph School, John D. Ivers, Jr. Scholarship Fund, 159 West Main St., Meriden, CT 06451. Arrangements are under the direction of the John J. Ferry & Sons Funeral Home, 88 East Main Street, Meriden, CT 06450.
