Obituary
Elizabeth Ann Suravich, 80, wife of the late Albert Suravich, of Chatham formerly of Meriden, passed from this Earth “on eagles wings” on October 15, 2016 after a long battle with alzheimer’s disease. Born in Meriden on April 28, 1936, she was the daughter of the late George and Elizabeth (Welsh) Veillette. She was a parishioner of St. Laurent Church (Meriden) and Holy Redeemer (Chatham). Betsy loved being around people. She loved dancing, holidays, “cousins week”, Friday night band concerts, gardening, snowbirding in Florida, cocktail hour and memories of her dog, Cindy. But most of all, Betsy loved her faith and family. She is survived by two daughters, Leslie Amara and her husband, Joseph of Chatham, MA and Patricia McElroy and her husband, Greg of Meriden; one son, Michael Suravich and his wife, Susan of Killingworth; seven grandchildren, Joseph, Taylor, Matthew, Andrew, Jason, Keith and Linda; three brothers, George (Lyn), William (Pauline) and Patrick (Beth) Veillette and many nieces and nephews. She is also survived by longtime friends, Sal and Jeanne Bonfanti. She was predeceased by her daughter, Jennifer. The family wishes to thank Mom’s compassionate caregiver, Marcella Gracia. Her extraordinary attention and dedication allowed our Mom to remain in her home. Marcella made sure that Mom laughed, sang and danced every day. This wonderful woman will forever be a part of our family. Family and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial to be held on Saturday, October 22, 2016 at 10 am at St. Laurent Church, 121 Camp Street, Meriden. Everyone is asked to meet directly at the church. Burial will be in St. Laurent Cemetery. Family and friends may call at the John J. Ferry & Sons Funeral Home, 88 East Main Street, Meriden on Friday, October 21, 2016 from 5 to 7 pm.
