Domenico Parillo Obituary

Domenico Parillo, 81, passed into eternal life peacefully on Saturday August 20, 2016 at home surrounded by his loving and devoted family after a lengthy illness. He was born on June 22, 1935 in Treglia, province of Caserta, Italy and was the son of the late Vincenzo and Caterina Parillo. He was the beloved husband of Saveria Parillo, his wife of 58 years. He is survived by his three loving daughters and sons-in-law, Caterina Parillo and her husband, Vincenzo; Enza Zacchia and her husband, Gianni, all of Meriden; Rosa Izzo and her husband Pasquale of Italy. In addition, he is survived by his cherished grandchildren, whom he adored, Simone Parillo and his wife Tricia; Domenico Parillo, Michael Zacchia, all of Meriden; Rosalba Izzo of Italy and his precious great granddaughter Caterina Parillo. He is survived by his brothers, John Parillo of Meriden, Giacomo Parillo of Italy and his sisters, Carmela Parillo DiDomenico, Raffaela Parillo Capraro, and Agnesa Parillo Sabino all of Italy and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a sister Angela Parillo Barbato and grandson, Salvatore Izzo. Domenico was a hard-working, strong man who had immigrated to the US in 1969 to provide a better life for his family. He was a parishioner of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church. He retired from the City of Meriden. He was a wonderful husband, dedicated father and doting grandfather. His greatest joy in life was spending time with his family, either telling funny stories, sitting under his grape vines or listening to Italian music. He enjoyed cooking, winemaking and spending time in his garden, nurturing his grape vines, and his fig and lemon trees. He was a humble man with many friends who spent most mornings together with him having coffee at his picnic table. He will be missed dearly by all who loved him. Domenico’s family would like to personally thank the Franciscan Home and Hospice Care staff for the extraordinary care provided to him and his family. Friends and family are invited to attend the funeral services on Friday, August 26 at 9:15 am from the John J. Ferry & Sons Funeral home, 88 East Main Street, Meriden followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church at 10:00 am. Entombment to follow at Sacred Heart Cemetery. Calling hours will be on Thursday, August 25, from 5pm to 8pm.
