Dolores Jakiela

Dolores Stewart Jakiela, 81, wife of the late Lawrence R. Jakiela, passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 14, 2016 surrounded by her loving family. Dolores was born June 26, 1935 in Houlton, Maine, but resided in Meriden most of her life. She was the daughter of Madeline Stewart and the late Raymond Stewart. She graduated from Meriden High School and retired from the Napier Company after many years. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Meriden and a member of the Meriden Intermediate Club. Besides her mother, she is survived by her three sons, David, Michael and his wife Meg, and Larry Jakiela; six grandchildren, David Jakiela and his wife Robin, Jennifer Meister and her husband Rich, Maureen Karabatsos and her husband Todd, Sarah, Megan and Kelly Jakiela; two great-grandchildren, Claire and Callie Jakiela; two brothers, Kevin and Terry Stewart; one sister, Karen Stewart and many nieces and nephews. Dolores’ family would like to thank the staff at Miller Memorial for their compassionate love and care they gave to Dolores and the kindness they shared. The funeral will be held on Wednesday, July 20, 2016 at 7 p.m. at the John J. Ferry & Sons Funeral Home, 88 East Main Street, Meriden. Family and friends may call at the funeral home prior to the service from 5 to 7 pm. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory may be made to the Meriden Humane Society, 311 Murdock Avenue, Meriden, CT 06450.
