Marion (Fahey) Cunningham Obituary

Marion Fahey Cunningham, loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and friend passed away on October 7, 2016 at the age of 97. She was predeceased by her husband Harold P. Cunningham and two sisters Margaret Donahue and Edna Broderick. Marion is survived by her four children and their spouses, three grandchildren and two great-granddaughters. They are Michael & Monica Cunningham of Marlborough MA, Dennis Cunningham & wife Joan Parker of Charleston, West Virginia, Marie & Jerry Georgetti of Enfield CT and Ellen & Baird Kaake of Wethersfield CT; Michael Cunningham of Ashburn VA, Jeffrey Georgetti, and Megan Kaake; Delanie and Gianna Cunningham. Marion was a lifelong resident of Enfield CT attending St. Joseph’s School and Enfield High. She was a parishioner at St. Patrick’s Church and a member of the Altar Society for many years. Her life of faith, prayer, humility and devotion to family were her hallmarks. They were witnessed in her lifelong friendships developed during her working years at The Aetna and the example she set for others in taking on life’s challenges. One of her most passionate interests was UCONN Women’s Basketball Team. She never missed a game!!! In her final years, Marion discovered extended family at The Little Sisters of the Poor, St. Joseph’s Residence where she was able to continue practicing her faith in service to others. As a talented seamstress with an eye for style she became a member of the “knitting group” and made many prayer shawls, hats and mittens for those in need. We would like to thank The Little Sisters of the Poor and the staff at St. Joseph’s Residence for providing loving care to our Mom over the years. Donations may be made in Marion’s memory to St. Joseph’s Residence at 1365 Enfield Street, Enfield, CT 06082-4925. Relatives and friends may gather with her family on Tuesday Oct. 11, 2016 from 10:00 to 11:00 am, followed by A Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 in St. Joseph’s Chapel / Little Sisters of the Poor, Enfield, CT. Interment will be in St. Patrick’s King St. Cemetery, Enfield.
