James C. Zacharias, age 90, of Trumbull, beloved husband of 58 years to Betty Coshonis Zacharias, died peacefully on Sunday, August 10, 2008. Born in Bridgeport, he was the son of the late Charles and Lola Zacharias. A resident of Trumbull since 1969, he was a retired employee of the Town of Trumbull Public Works Department and the United Illuminating Co. A veteran of World War II, Jim was given the honor and responsibilty of being a guard for President Franklin Roosevelt. He was an active member of Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church, and served in the Parish Council and he was a former secretary. An avid sports enthusiast, he was also a former basketball coach at Holy Trinity and served on the basketball committee. Survivors in addition to his devoted wife, Betty, survivors include three sons, Charles Zacharias and his wife, Christine of Florida, Michael Zacharias of Milford, and Peter Zacharias of Torrington; five grandchildren, Alexander, James and Peter Zacharias Jr., Carolyn and Stephanie Zacharias; nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a sister, Peggy Perrini. "AIONIA H MNAMH"
