Carmen Rea Obituary

Carmen Kay Rea, lifelong resident of Ignacio, passed away on August 17, 2016. She was born in Durango to Eula Colville Preston and Everett Preston on October 29, 1949. Carmen was active in 4-H and home crafts. She married Donald Rea on July 12, 1966 and together they had 2 children. Carmen worked for over 30 years in food service, providing delicious meals for the Ignacio School District, Hilltop House and the Southern Ute Detention Center. She was also a long time member of the La Plata County Fair Board and Extension Homemakers Club and regularly judged in the area and state fairs. Carmen was preceded in death by her brother, Kenneth; sister, Joanne (Bob) McKee and her husband, Donald. She is survived by sons, Preston (Tisha) and Jeffrey Rea; Grandchildren, Brittany, Devon, Allan and Kyla Rea; Great granddaughters, Lilly Williams and Madison Rea; brother, Ronald Preston and sister, Shirley Vrtako. A graveside service will be held on August 28, 2016 at 3:00pm at Ignacio East Cemetery followed by a fellowship dinner at the Oxford Grange.
