Cecelia Alice Holman Obituary

Cecelia was born November 27, 1920 in Clifton Arizona to bi-lingual parents James and Carmen Norte. She left Arizona in 8th grade to move to Los Angeles (Monterey Park) where she completed high school. After high school she worked at a department store and met her husband George through her brother Robert, Cecelia and George were married in Sept. of 1941.They had three children (Rauleen, Bernadine and George Daniel) and raised their family on a ranch in Indio. George passed away 1962 and Cecelia continued to live in Indio until her move to San Diego in 1970. Cecelia worked for the school district as a Secretary to the Superintendent of Schools, upon her retirement she met Bruce Holman through a walking group and married in November of 1984. Together they traveled and always made time for family. One of their favorite trips was to New Zealand. They bought a home in San Jacinto in 1989, with a mountain view in the backyard where they spent time gardening. There Cecilia got involved in community and became an instructor for the English as a Second Language Program in Riverside County. She was always loving, kind and generous with her time, as demonstrated when she and Bruce sponsored a family for Habitat for Humanity. Additionally, she enjoyed being an active member of the church and her faith was her strength. She even made trips to visit well-known spiritual destinations such as Lourdes, the Basilica in Montreal. Cecelia also had an infectious laugh and could tell stories with the best of them, so it was no wonder she could make friends anywhere she went. Some of these friendships lasted for decades.
