Mr. Jerry Ray Jones of Tuckerman departed this life on Tuesday, July 12, 2016, at the age of 73. He was born September 26, 1942, in Swifton to Gus Jones and Wanda Lee (Crawford) Jones. Mr. Jones was raised by his grandparents, Marion and Emma Jones, who preceded him in death. He worked in construction many years as a crane operator. Mr. Jones loved fishing and riding around looking at his friend’s crops. His favorite hobby was yard work; he would mow the yard even if it didn’t need it. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Tuckerman. Mr. Jones was preceded in death by his parents, one daughter, Connie Darlene Jones; and one half-sister, Loretta Jones Seanard. Mr. Jones is survived by his wife of 55 years, Mary Francine (Williams) Jones, of the home; one son, Jerry Lee Jones and wife Cindy, of Tuckerman; one daughter, Mary Ellen Jones Obanion and husband Jimmy, of Tuckerman; one half-brother, Roy “Junior” Jones, of Ash Flat; one sister, Shirley May Wilson and husband, Woodrow, of Swifton; four grandchildren, Amanda Reeves and husband Caleb, Derek Jones and wife Natalie, Sarah Obanion, and Alexandria Obanion; three great-grandchildren, Ava Grace, Jake, and John Jax; his niece, Emma Lee Fortenberry of Lynn; and many other nieces, nephews, and a lifetime of friends. Friends may visit at the funeral home, Friday, July 15, 2016, from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Graveside services are 10:00 a.m. Saturday at Gracelawn Cemetery, with Bro. David Burgess officiating. Those honored to serve as pallbearers are Jerry Burgess, J.R. Moody, Brandon Holland, Mark Ellis, Richard Hembrey and Michael Holland. Honorary pallbearers are Bob Penix, Doyle Riley and Dale Baughn.
