Betty Langston

Mrs. Betty Lynn (Austin) Langston, of Newark, Arkansas, departed this life on Thursday, September 8, 2016 at the age of 89. She was born August 26, 1927 in Independence County, the daughter of James Robert and Dora Dalton (Sandefur) Austin. Mrs. Langston worked in Quality Control at Michigan Fruit Canners of Fennville, Michigan, 15 years until becoming disabled. She was a member of the VFW Auxiliary for many years, and Topps Organization. Mrs. Langston enjoyed fishing, crafting, and loved to be around family. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Newark. Mrs. Langston was preceded in death by her first husband, Earl Lee Morrison; her second husband of forty-one years, Melvin Hayden Langston; one son, Carl Hayden Langston; five brothers, J.R. Austin, Jr and wife, Locie, Theo O’Neal Austin, Sr., and wife, Florine Wilson Austin, James Roe Austin and wife, Ruth Irene Austin, Clinton Austin, and Melvin Lee Austin; one sister, Lilly Mae Hutchison and her husband, Edgar “Bud” Hutchison; and her parents. She is survived by one son, Larry Wayne Langston, Sr., and wife, Joanne Fay, of Newark; two grandchildren, Larry Wayne Langston, Jr., and wife Donita Malynn, of Springdale, and James Alan Langston of Newark; two great-grandchildren, Hailey Madison Langston of Newark, and Samuel Hayden Langston of Springdale; many nieces and nephews. The Langston Family would like to extend a special thanks to her caregivers, Brenda Markum, Sophia Liles, Brandie Nast, and Caring Hands Hospice. Friends may visit at the funeral home, Sunday, 4:00-7:00 p.m. Funeral services are 4:00 p.m. Monday, at Newark First Baptist Church with Bro. Bill Goodwin officiating. Interment will follow in Blue Springs Cemetery. Those honored to serve as pallbearers are Larry McClain, Jimmy Austin, Mark Williams, Phillip Morrison, Larry Magness, and Loren Parsley. Arrangements by Jackson’s Newark Funeral Home.
