Mr. Benny Marcus Nelson of Newport, Arkansas, departed this life on Monday, June 20, 2016 at the age of 66. He was born March 29, 1950 in Newport, the son of Benny C. and Iona (Reid) Nelson. He married Miss Andrea Morrison on September 1, 1972, and they made their home in Newport. Mr. Nelson enjoyed cars, and was a wholesale car dealer many years. He enjoyed being outdoors, working in his yard and fishing. Mr. Nelson spent hours looking at architecture and home plans. His greatest love in life was his family, and spending time with them, especially his grandchildren. He was a member of the First Baptist Church. Mr. Nelson was preceded in death by his parents, Benny and Iona Nelson. He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Andrea (Morrison) Nelson of the home; two daughters, Tammy Nelson Rushing and husband, Thomas, of Newport, and Tessa Nelson Cripe and husband, David, of Paragould; one brother, Michael Nelson and wife, Barbara, of Jonesboro; two sisters, Nancy Broyles of Newport, and Claudia Ballard of Oil Trough; his three beloved grandchildren, Bella, Harper, and Addison; several nieces, nephews, and a lifetime of friends. Friends may visit at the funeral home, Wednesday, 6:00-8:00 p.m. Funeral services are 2:00 p.m. Thursday, June 23, 2016, at Jackson’s Newport Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow in Walnut Grove Cemetery. Honorary pallbearers are Joe Simon, Carlos Turner, Randy Ritchie, Carlon James, Stanley James, and James Smith.
