Thelma Faubus

Thelma Faubus, 97, of Fort Smith, Arkansas entered into Gods Heavenly Kingdom on August 21, 2016. She was born on May 22, 1919 in Excelsior, Arkansas to Doc Coleman and Grace Coleman Williams. She was a member of First Baptist Church and taught Sunday school for many years. She was a very successful business owner of Theodora’s Wig Shop of 47 years. She went to work with her daughter every day until her 97th birthday. Her saying was “I will never sit in that rocking chair and rock myself to death.” Her passion to help others showed in all of her kind encouraging words to all. She would light up a room and brighten your day. Her greatest enjoyment was to spend quality time making special memories with her family, traveling to tennis matches and basketball games to cheer for her daughter and granddaughter. Thelma was the strength and backbone of our family. Graveside services are 10:00AM, Wednesday, August 24, 2016 at Mountain View Cemetery under the direction of Ocker-Putman Funeral Home of Fort Smith, Arkansas. She leaves behind to cherish her memory, three daughters, Gail Faubus, Linda Lewis and her husband Bob and Jo Ann Eubanks and her husband Claude all of Fort Smith, Arkansas; one son, Don Faubus and his wife Pat of Fort Smith, Arkansas; four sisters, LaFern Roller and Pat Fisher of Van Buren, AR, Vera Lee Monday of Stillwater, OK and Betty Brown of Lavaca, AR; six grandchildren Kim Brown and Tammy Morse of Fort Smith, Jill Brummer of North Carolina, Laura Southerland of Little Rock, Paul Lewis of Ozark and John Lewis Beebe, AR; eighteen great grandchildren and three great great grandchild. The family will visit with friends from 6-8PM on Tuesday August 23rd at Ocker-Putman Funeral Home of Fort Smith, Arkansas. A special thanks to Pink Bud Nursing Home for her three weeks of stay to all the wonderful nurses and aides.
