Barbara Dugan Obituary

Barbara “Elaine” Dugan, 58, of Hackett, Arkansas passed away on Saturday, September 10, 2016 in her Hackett home. She was born on June 21, 1958 in Fort Smith, Arkansas. She was preceded in death by our son Jerrod Samuel Parrish who passed away in 2008 from sudden death/epilepsy disorder at the age of 28. She was the love of my life who centered on Gods promises for this life and everlasting life, through Jesus Christ. It was evident that the Holy Spirit dwelled within her. She had a wonderful smile and eyes I would get lost in. She loved Christ, her children, family, friends and animals. With the strength of Christ she would stand up for those who could not stand up for themselves. Life was a journey for her and she cherished every opportunity. Although life for her was sometimes difficult, she never backed down if something was worth fighting for. She was a woman of many talents; she retired from Hickory Springs after 30 plus years, where she started as a rivet operator, because of her leadership skills she spent most of her years in management. She earned several AWS welding certifications, designed, welded and powder coated many ornamental iron projects. One of which was donated (World of Beauty) to the College of Applied Science and Technology at UAFS. She earned her AAS degree in CADD design at the University of Arkansas-Fort Smith. Elaine was a songwriter, musician, photographer, teacher, worked alongside her husband Michael of 20 years as Indian reservation missionaries, juvenile camp ministry, senior home ministry, led youth rallies, supply preaching and singing in 30 plus churches, co-pastoring Pleasant Grove #3 Baptist Church in Waldron and helped design and build Rainbow Park. She planted many seeds in the name of Jesus and led many to Christ. A family held memorial service will be 2:00PM, Sunday, September 18, 2016 at Michael and Elaine’s home at 6011 Tyro Road in Hackett, Arkansas. It will be a potluck, bring a chair and a story or two. If you have any questions or get lost call Michael Dugan at 479-650-8413. She is survived by her husband Michael of the home; one daughter, Brooke Karin Stoufer of Hackett, AR; five sons, Petie Dugan and his wife Holly of Hackett, Dillon Dugan and his wife Cassey of Mansfield, Dylan Dugan and Michael J. Dugan of Hackett and Richard Dugan of Temecula, CA; her mother and step father, Hilda and Leo Tilson of Midland, AR; three sisters, Gwethlyn Hauser of Kona, Hawaii, Zona Kirk of Fort Smith, AR and Zena Plaster of Lavaca, AR; three brothers, Mike Smith of Bonanza, AR, Joe Smith of Fayetteville, AR and Woody Harvin of Hackett, AR and 8 grandchildren. Memorials may be made to the Reynolds Cancer Support House 3324 South M St. Fort Smith, AR 72903. We want to thank all of the people who made Elaine’s last six weeks remarkable, the 911 operator, Midland first responders, Sebastian County Ambulance service, all of the doctors, nurses, and staff at Mercy Hospital, that worked on her and made our stay greater than we could’ve imagined and Peachtree Hospice, who made it possible for her to be comfortable at home. Thank you to the outpouring of people who prayed, texted, called and came by. Thank you to the welding instructors at the University of Arkansas-Fort Smith, the Dean of the College of Applied Science and Technology, the Provost, and the ladies who blessed us with God’s Grace. Elaine’s circle of love has increased and we love ya’ll.
