Christine Clark

Christine Clark, 99, of Russellville, passed away Friday, May 27, 2016, at her home. She was born December 6, 1916, on Crow Mountain, daughter of the late Fred and Josephine Kersten Schmoll. She grew up on a farm in Atkins and moved to Baltimore, Maryland, and later Kansas City, Missouri, where she met her husband Don. They married December 7, 1959. She retired from a supervisor position with Social Security Administration in 1969, and moved back to Pope County in 1983 where she worked as an independent tax preparer until 2004. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Donald W. Clark; 3 sisters, Dorothy Merriman, Hilda Angler, and Clara Schmoll; a brother, Carl Schmoll; and a niece, Carlene Schmoll Ewing. She is survived by a son, Michael Clark; 2 nieces, Jo Ann and husband Alton Spence, and Bernadine Mitchell and Mark Stevenson; 3 nephews, Louis Schmoll and wife Ann, John Schmoll and wife Kasie, and Bob Anglen; grandchildren, Jamie and Carlos Gibson; 3 great-grandchildren; numerous great-nieces and nephews, great-great-nieces and nephews; and 6 great-great-great-nieces and nephews. Funeral mass will be held 10:00 AM, Tuesday, May 31, at the Atkins Church of the Assumption with Father Ernie Hardesty officiating. Burial is in Rest Haven Memorial Park under the direction of Lemley Funeral Service of Atkins. Pallbearers are Doug Spence, Cooper Spence, Tyler Schmoll, Mark Stevenson, Robbie Schmoll, and Richie Schmoll. Honorary pallbearers are Duncan Harvill, Bradick Schmoll, and Barrett Ewing. In lieu of flowers, memorials in her honor may be made to the Atkins Church of the Assumption, or to Arkansas Hospice, 2405 E. Parkway, Suite 3, Russellville, AR, 72802.
