Norma Jean Tinker

Norma Jean Tinker, age 79, 209 Sycamore Street, Erwin passed away on Tuesday, July 5, 2016 at the Johnson City Medical Center. She was a lifelong resident of Erwin and daughter of the late Wilby and Nora Peterson Simmons. Mrs. Tinker was a homemaker. She was a member of the Erwin Church of God. Mrs. Tinker loved to decorate and make floral arrangements. She loved her family dearly and cared about others more than herself. Other than her parents she was preceded in death by her husband of fifty-one years, Thomas A. Tinker in 2007; one son, Steven Randal Tinker in 2002; two brothers: James Earl and Richard Arlin Simmons; one sister, Anna Mae Day; one niece and one nephew. She leaves behind to cherish her memories one daughter, Debra Tinker Bonasera of Erwin; one sister, Marie Erwin of Erwin; one granddaughter, Lindsey Nichole Weaver and husband, Paul of Johnson City; five nieces and three nephews. A graveside service will be held at 2:00 P. M. on Saturday, July 9, 2016 in the McInturff Cemetery, Rock Creek Community, Erwin. Reverend Bernie Jones will officiate. Those wishing to attend should meet at the cemetery by 1:45 P. M. on Saturday.
