Mary P. Crain, age 92, Longterm Care Unit of Unicoi County Memorial Hospital, went home to be with the Lord, at 8:42 p.m. Thursday, September 20, 2012.
She was a native and lifelong resident of Unicoi County.
Mrs. Crain was born May 15, 1920 in Unicoi County, a daughter of the late Johnny and Annie Dunbar Bennett.
She was a retired seamstress for Steinway Clothing with 40 years of dedicated service.
Mrs. Crain attended Calvary Baptist Church.
She was a loving and devoted mother and grandmother and will be greatly missed by her family.

Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Clyde Crain, who passed away September 10, 1992, son-in-law: David Ledford, daughter-in-law: Bess Crain, two grandchildren, one great-grandson, one great-great-granddaughter, two brothers: Frank Bennett, Grady Bennett, two sisters: Sue Bennett, Betty Jane Church.

Mrs. Crain is survived by two sons: Billy C. Crain, Yuma, Arizona, Douglas D. Crain, Chuckey; three daughters: Rita Williams, Erwin, Portia Phillips, Unicoi, and Pat Ledford, Erwin; 13 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, 7 great-great-grandchildren; one brother: Richard Bennett and wife Barbara; one sister: Dorothy Moss and husband Miles, all of Lincolnton, North Carolina; several nieces and nephews.

Graveside service for Mrs. Crain will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, September 22, 2012, in RoseLawn Memory Gardens.
Rev. David Williams will officate.
Active pallbearers will be her grandsons, Robert Williams, Jr., Clyde Everett Phillips, Steven Williams, Jeffery Bryan Crain, Benjamin Douglas Crain, David Lynn Williams, Arthur Mark Ledford, and Victor Lee Ledford.

Those attending the graveside service are asked to meet at the cemetery by 1:45 p.m. Saturday.

There will be no formal visitation.
