Winston Cotts Watrous, Saskatchewan Obituary

Winston Cotts

With great sadness, we announce the sudden passing of our husband, brother, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle and friend, Winston "Winn" Ross Cotts, at St Paul's Hospital in Saskatoon, June 14, 2016, at the age of 75. He is loved and remembered by his wife, Georgina; step-father, Hank Obester; sister, Jane and Doug; son, Michael and Kristen; daughter, Linda and Cliff; granddaughters, Ashley and Tom, Morgan and Jamie; grandson, Joshua; great grandson, Colton; a new great grandson on-the-way; Scott and Leanne; many nieces and nephews and friends. Winn was predeceased by his wife, Jean; parents, Robert Cotts and Grace Obester; and siblings, Orville and Ina-Mae. Winn was born in Saskatoon on January 9, 1941 and moved to Watrous with his family in 1977 after spending his earlier years in British Columbia. He was a medic and paratrooper in the military, a truck driver, a prison guard, a miner and welder, who retired in 2007 after 20 years at Colonsay Potash. At different times he was a hockey player, farmer, fisherman, baseball coach, high school sports fan, Warriors/Winterhawks supporter, bowler, curler, biker and snowbird. Always, he was a reader, a golfer who bled green for Rider Nation, proud of his family and loved. The last couple years were challenging for Winn, as he faced many health issues, but he found joy in simple pleasures, like the magic of Colton, his granddaughters' becoming mothers, his golf friends 'taking advantage' of him and his life with his "Phyllis." There will be no funeral by request. In lieu of flowers, please perform a random act of kindness or make a donation to Ronald McDonald House.
