Gordon Walker Obituary

Walker: Gordon Brent Abram Walker aged 62 years of Nokomis passed away peacefully at Nokomis Health Centre, Nokomis Saskatchewan on Wednesday, August 10th, 2016. His family will hold a private Celebration of Life in his remembrance. Gord was predeceased by his parents Harold and Muriel (Petrich) Walker and step mother Pat. He is survived by his loving wife Rhonda, and son Tyler; sisters, Carol (Ivar) Olsen; Willa (Michael) McCaughan, Linda (John) Kuefler; brother Hal (Maddie) Walker; numerous nieces and nephews. His fondest memories of his childhood were of the whole family sitting around the dinner table and hearing Mom and Dad tell stories about when they were kids. Gord played the piano and trumpet and sang in the school choir. He was an Air Cadet and loved curling. He studied engineering at the University of Saskatchewan for two years and then, in 1973, started working at Alwinsal Potash (now Potash Corporation of Saskatchewan) in Lanigan and eventually became an electrician there. Gord loved his crew and all of his fellow workers and just being a part of the mine. Gord took up skydiving and scuba diving and shared the love of travel with all of his sisters and brother. In 1998 Gord started dating Rhonda Pomfret from Nokomis and immediately fell in love. On Valentine’s Day 2000, on the Carnival Cruise ship “Destiny”, he proposed to Rhonda and on September 28, 2001 they were married. On July 13, 2004, their son Tyler was born. Rhonda and Ty were truly the centre of Gord’s universe. They travelled to virtually every Disney destination in the world plus had numerous other wonderful travel experiences. They swam with the dolphins and zip lined and had all sorts of adventures and instilled the love of travel in Ty. Gord was truly a gentleman and a “gentle man”. Everyone who knew him loved him and admired him and respected him. Gord and Rhonda and Tyler were the most content family in the world. His Dad and his Mom would have been very proud of him. We will all keep his memory alive and will always remember how kind and loving and what a great man he was.
