Mary Magdalene Strome Obituary

Mary was born in Mildmay on September 24, 1917 and passed away at the Freeport Campus of Grand River Hospital on Friday, July 15, 2016.

Beloved wife of the late Harry Strome. Loved mother of Helen Reichert (Karl), Barbara Dietrich (John) and Larry Strome (Karen). Loving grandmother of Paul, Mark (Maryann), Brian (Diana), Karen (Don), Ann (Andrew), Deanna, Lisa (dec.) (Derek), Laura, Michael (Jill), and David (Alexa). Also will be fondly remembered by 19 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandson.

Predeceased by her brothers, George and Eugene, her sisters, Matilda Kastner and Anna Kilgour, a son-in-law Ronald Dietrich and her beloved granddaughter Lisa Rae.

Mary had been active at St. Michael’s RC Church, Waterloo and a member of the Catholic Women’s League. She was also a lifetime member of the Waterloo Rod and Gun Club.

Visitation will be held at the Erb & Good Family Funeral Home, 171 King St. S., Waterloo, on Wednesday, July 20th from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, July 21 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Michael’s RC Church, 240 Hemlock St., (at University Ave.) Waterloo, with Fr. David Walter as Celebrant. A reception will immediately follow in the Parish Hall. Interment in Parkview Cemetery, Waterloo.
