Obituary for Margaret Inglis

Feb 20, 1924 to March 30, 2013
Margaret was born in Winnipeg to Mary and William Stewart Inglis. She attended St. Mary's Academy and College until graduating with her BA. She was married in 1950 and by 1960 was the proud mother of five. She remained in Winnipeg until 1963 when she moved with her family to Halifax. In 1966 the family relocated to Toronto. As a young equestrian in Winnipeg and with her dog and cats in later years, Margaret always had a strong connection with nature which she has passed down to her family. She was an ardent supporter of many charities which reflected her beliefs that we have an obligation to support our environment and our partners in it. She was equally supportive of charities that benefited those less fortunate. She was an avid reader and lover of the arts. She loved films, live theatre, ballet and opera in particular. Margaret lived her last few years at Belmont House in Toronto where she received outstanding care from the staff and especially her personal care assistant, Aleli Diak. She is survived by her brother Lawson Inglis of Winnipeg and his wife Barbara; her children: Deborah Harding (David), Janet Kerr, Susan Kerr (Peter Lee),Douglas (Monique); her grandchildren: Theresa (Ryan), Graham (Caroline), Christina, Emily, Sarah, Diana,Patrick, Peter, Tristan , Katharine, Madeleine, Emma; and her great-grandchildren: Juliet, Henry and Liam. Margaret was pre-deceased by her ex-husband John Kerr and her son Michael. The family will be holding a private mass to celebrate Margaret's life on Wednesday April 3 at St. Edward the Confessor Church at 75 Churchill St, North York. Burial to follow at Holy Cross Cemetery in Thornhill. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to any of her charities in her name: Covenant House, Save the Children Canada, The Salvation Army, or the Canadian Wildlife Federation.
